DRAFT GUIDELINES ON THE AWARD OF SCHOLARSHIPS, PRIZES AND EXCELLENT ACADEMIC STANDING

Dr Victor Oloyede Awosika Foundation in conjunction with Chrisland University awards scholarships and prizes to, and recognizes excellent academic standing by outstanding students. This is to encourage and reward hard work, high academic attainment and to promote a culture of academic excellence, and as well, assist respective candidates achieve their dream of obtaining a university degree.

GUIDELINES AND PROCEDURE

  1. UNIVERSITY ENTRY SCHOLARSHIP

PURPOSE: The University Entry Scholarship is for UTME or Direct Entry candidates who demonstrate excellent academic standing in the required subject combination in the choice courses and academic programs. The status of scholarship is ‘FULL’ and value at #400,000. The scholarship is available at entry into Chrisland University or any selected universities and NOT renewable in subsequent years.

CRITERIA: Students grades are placed on a 10-point scale and the award will be offered to candidates with excellent performance in both the JAMB subject combination and O’and/or A’ level minimum requirements in the academic program of choice.

A minimum score of 180-200 (JAMB) and 70-80 points (O’/A’ L) required for admission and sponsorship into Chrisland University while sponsorship into other universities attracts minimum of 240 (JAMB) and 80 points for O’/A’L results.

 

  1. BEST SCIENCE STUDENT AWARD

PURPOSE: The scholarship is for outstanding students of Chrisland University or students from any selected universities in Nigeria who have consistently demonstrated academic excellence in science related fields of specialization.

CRITERIA: The students eligible for award must be students of Chrisland University or students from selected universities who have completed their course registration formalities and have fully paid all required fees and levies prior to commencement of academic session. Priority will be given to outstanding academic excellence and the student’s leadership capabilities through demonstrated community service.

GUIDELINES: Scholarship will be awarded on an annual basis and disbursed twice annually. The initial disbursement is at the commencement of first semester, and the second disbursement will be at the resumption of the second semester. Students must continue to attend classes (80% class attendance record) and maintain not lower than a CGPA of 4.0 in their first semester of the first year to qualify for the second disbursement in the second semester of the same year, and continue to attain a minimum CGPA of 4.25 thereafter to qualify for subsequent awards.

VALUE OF SCHOLARSHIP: The scholarship will cover full tuition and boarding for the duration of award. Twenty (20) of such scholarships are available every academic year.

DEADLINE: The application deadline is the 1st of August every year. The deadline is the date after which applications will no longer be accepted.

DURATION/RENEWAL: This scholarship is renewable yearly. To continue to qualify, students must maintain quality Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 4.0 in the first year and 4.25 in the subsequent years, and as well, attain above 70% class attendance records.

  1. OUTSTANDING MEDICAL SCIENCE STUDENT

PURPOSE: The scholarship is for outstanding students of Chrisland University or students from any selected universities in Nigeria who have consistently demonstrated academic excellence in related fields of medical sciences.

CRITERIA: The students eligible for award must be students of Chrisland University or students from selected universities who have completed their course registration formalities and have fully paid all required fees and levies prior to commencement of academic session. Priority will be given to outstanding academic excellence and the student’s leadership capabilities through demonstrated community service.

GUIDELINES: Scholarship will be awarded on an annual basis and disbursed twice annually. CRITERIA: The students eligible for award must be students of Chrisland University or students from selected universities who have completed their course registration formalities and have fully paid all required fees and levies prior to commencement of academic session. Priority will be given to outstanding academic excellence and the student’s leadership capabilities through demonstrated community service.

GUIDELINES: Scholarship will be awarded on an annual basis and disbursed twice annually. The initial disbursement is at the commencement of first semester, and the second disbursement will be at the resumption of the second semester.   1. FOUNDER’S SCHOLARSHIP FOR ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE AND CHARACTER

PURPOSE: The Founder’s Scholarship is for students who demonstrate academic excellence, genuine financial need, and must be students of Chrisland University.

CRITERIA: The beneficiaries must be undergraduates of Chrisland University. Consideration will be given to academic excellence, genuine financial need and student’s community service records. Application form is FREE for this category.

GUIDELINES: Scholarship will be awarded on an annual basis and disbursed twice a year. Students are equally expected to attain above 75% class attendance and a Grade Point Average (CGPA) not lower than 4.50 on a 5.0 scale grade-point average to qualify for the award.

VALUE OF SCHOLARSHIP: Each scholarship award will be in the sum of two hundred thousand naira (#200,000.00) paid annually, and payable on two installments which are at the end of first semester while the balance is paid at the start of second semester of same academic session. Only five (5) of this type of scholarship are available every academic year.

DURATION/RENEWAL: The scholarship is available to students from 200L of study and can be won multiple times on the basis of academic excellence, quality leadership and University community service.

APPLICATION PROCESS: Interested students should contact the office of the Registrar and pickup the application form for FREE. The completed form must be returned on or before the close of current academic session.

  1. INNOVATION AND CREATIVITY AWARD

PURPOSE: The Innovation and Creativity Award is for students who demonstrate academic excellence, develop new set of techniques or products through ingenious creations and designs, and must be students of Chrisland University.

CRITERIA: The beneficiaries must be undergraduates of Chrisland University. Consideration will be given to good academic standing, demonstration of exceptional entrepreneurial ability, development of products and set of techniques through ingenious creation and exceptional leadership in community service. Application form is FREE for this category.

GUIDELINES: Scholarship will be awarded on an annual basis and disbursed twice a year. Students are equally expected to be of good behavior.

VALUE OF SCHOLARSHIP: Each scholarship award will be in the sum of five hundred thousand naira (#500,000.00) paid annually, and payable on two installments which are at the end of first semester while the balance is paid at the start of second semester of same academic session. Only five (5) of this type of scholarship are available every academic year.

DURATION/RENEWAL: The scholarship is available to students from 200L of study and can be won multiple times on the basis of established criteria.

APPLICATION PROCESS: Interested students should contact the office of the Registrar and pick up the application form for FREE. The completed form must be returned on or before the close of current academic session.

  1. DR VICTOR AWOSIKA SCHOLARSHIP FOR INDIGENT STUDENTS

PURPOSE: The scholarship is designed for indigent students and other students who may fall under the listed categories:

  • Students whose parents suddenly lost their jobs
  • Students of a single parent
  • Students whose parents suffer some form of incapacitation, ill health or loss of properties to natural hazards
  • Students whose parents have just retired and subsequently depend on pension
  • Students who have lost both or either of the parents to death
  • Students with low income parents such as the children of the clergy, police and other social workers who render selfless service to the state.

CRITERIA: The beneficiaries must attain good academic standing with a minimum CGPA of 3.50 and must be of excellent moral standing with good conduct within and outside of the University. He/She must be responsible and demonstrate sufficient leadership quality within group, class and University. The award is available from 200L and primarily for Chrisland University students.

GUIDELINES: Scholarship will be awarded on an annual basis and disbursed twice a year. Students are equally expected to attain above 75% class attendance and a Grade Point Average (CGPA) not lower than 3.50 on a 5.0 scale grade-point average to qualify for the award.

VALUE OF SCHOLARSHIP: Each scholarship award will be in the sum of one hundred and fifty thousand naira (#150,000.00) given as meal tickets (NOT cash). The meal tickets are disbursed at the beginning of each of the two semesters within same academic year.  Only fifty (50) of this type of scholarship are available every academic year.

DURATION/RENEWAL: The scholarship is available to students from 200L and renewable only once.

APPLICATION PROCESS: Interested students should contact the office of the Registrar and pickup the application form free. The completed form must be returned on or before the close of current academic session.
