The Chrisland Counselling and Psychological Services (CCAPS) started in February 2, 2018 in response to a proposal noting the need of such a service for the students of our university. Since inception, the Unit has been able to reach out to various students both individually and in groups. So as to reach more students, we have made group workshops and presentations a primary focus of our service. There is a great need for the student support services CCAPS can provide and the present setup is grossly inadequate. In 2021, we established our initiative “Chrisland Cares” which includes our immediate university community and the larger community. Our ultimate dream for CCAPS is to be a renowned income generating and training unit with best practice and international standard of care. In addition to serving our students, we hope to open up to the community since there is a definite dearth of professional
providers in mental health issues.
