The Department of Psychology was one of the original ones that started with the commencement of the university in 2015. The Department has the honor of having enrolled the very first student in the university, Ms.Ruth Eluagwule. The foundation staff included Dr. Afolabi Aroyewun, who was also the Acting Dean, Dr. Modupe Akin-Deko, the Acting Head of Department and they were later joined by Mrs. Evelyn Tolulope Oyeyemi.
This core team moved the programme forward and supported the University organization in several ways including the setting up of the Counseling and Psychological Services Unit. In November 2018, under the leadership of Professor Adekunle Adegoke, the department completed the full accreditation exercise mandated by Nigerian University Commission (NUC) with flying colors obtaining a score of 97%! In 2019 November, the first convocation ceremony of Chrisland University recorded two students with first class, Ms. Ruth Eluagwule and Ms. Lauretta Onemu both from the Department of Psychology. Ms.Lauretta Onemu was the valedictorian and had an impressive 5.0 CPGA, the first and only student to obtain such grades so far in the university!

Philosophy
The philosophy of the Department is to produce world-class graduates imbued with technical and professional skills required for understanding, analyzing, and proffering solutions to all aspects of political and administrative problems, and to train them to make useful contributions to both global and national discourse
Mission
The mission is to instill in Psychology students a sense of enthusiasm for and identify with psychology as a profession; an appreciation of its application in different contexts, and environments, and to involve students in an intellectually stimulating and satisfying experience of learning and studying.
The Psychology Department at Chrisland university is dedicated to raising the next generation of psychologists for graduate study in Psychology and related fields. Its major goal is to empower it students with requiste training and skills necessary to thrive as employees and entrepreneurs.
